Flooring Installation Melbourne
What Flooring We Install
We install the flooring types Melbourne homes actually use — and we’ll tell you straight which one suits your room, your subfloor, and your budget:
Timber and engineered boards — solid character and a premium feel. Engineered boards give you the timber look with better stability in Melbourne’s temperature swings.
Laminate — a hard-wearing, budget-friendly option for bedrooms and living areas, installed floating over quality underlay.
Hybrid and vinyl plank — fully waterproof, which makes them the practical pick for kitchens, laundries and rentals. Quiet underfoot and tough against scratches.
Floorboard replacement — swapping damaged, squeaky or water-affected boards and blending the new in with the old.
The finishing details — skirting, scotia and beading, trimming doors so they swing cleanly over the new height, and transition strips between rooms.
Board supply — don’t want to shop around? We supply the boards too. We work with trade flooring suppliers across Melbourne, bring samples to the quote, and roll supply, delivery and installation into one fixed price.
Already bought your flooring? Install-only is welcome — plenty of our customers buy their boards on sale and have us do the laying. Existing timber that just needs a refresh is a job for floor sanding rather than replacement, and we do that too. See all our flooring services.
The Prep That Makes a Floor Last
The boards are only as good as what’s under them. Before we lay anything, we check the subfloor for level, moisture and movement — and fix what we find. High spots get ground back, low spots get levelled, and squeaks in the existing structure get fixed before they’re sealed under a new floor for the next twenty years.
Boards are acclimatised on site before laying, the right underlay goes down for the product and the room, and expansion gaps are set correctly so the floor can move with the seasons instead of peaking in summer.
It’s not the fast way. It’s the reason our floors stay flat and quiet.
What Our Customers Say

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does flooring installation cost in Melbourne?
Install-only typically runs $30–$60 per square metre depending on the product and the condition of the subfloor. Supply-and-fit depends on the boards you choose. We quote a fixed price up front — including prep — so there are no surprises.
Can you install flooring I’ve already bought?
Yes. Install-only jobs are common — buy your boards wherever you like and we’ll handle the laying, underlay, trims and finishing.
How long does flooring installation take?
A standard bedroom takes about a day. A full living area or several rooms usually runs two to three days, including prep. We’ll give you a clear timeframe with the quote.
Do you level the subfloor first?
Yes — it’s part of every install. We check level and moisture before laying, grind high spots and fill low ones. A flat subfloor is the difference between a floor that lasts and one that creaks within a year.
Do you remove and dispose of the old flooring?
Yes. Removal and disposal of the existing floor coverings is included in the quote when you need it.
What flooring is best for rental properties?
Hybrid or vinyl plank, in most cases — waterproof, scratch-resistant and cost-effective to repair. We do a lot of work for landlords and property managers and can recommend products that survive tenants.
What areas of Melbourne do you service?
Inner-east suburbs including South Yarra, Toorak, Malvern, Prahran, Armadale, Brighton, and Kooyong — plus northern suburbs including Fitzroy, Northcote, Brunswick, Coburg, Fawkner, and Tullamarine.
Do you supply the flooring boards?
Yes — we’re supply-and-fit. We work with trade flooring suppliers across Melbourne, can bring samples to the quote, and include the boards, delivery and installation in one fixed price. Prefer to buy your own? Install-only is no problem.
How do I get a quote?
Fill in the form on this page or call 0409 215 215. Tell us the rooms, the product (or ask for advice), and we’ll come back to you within the hour.
Flooring Installers Melbourne
New floors change a room more than almost any other update — but only if they're laid right. Gaps at the skirting, lifting boards, peaking joints: nearly every flooring problem we get called to fix traces back to a rushed installation.
4P Collective installs timber, engineered, laminate, hybrid and vinyl plank flooring across inner-east and northern Melbourne. Supply-and-fit, or install-only if you've already bought your boards — either way the prep is done properly before a single plank goes down.
What we handle: supply of boards, new floor installation, floorboard replacement, subfloor levelling, underlay, skirting and scotia, and door trimming so everything closes cleanly.
